DAREDEVIL SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 REACTION – SPOILER ALERT – WATCH EPISODE FIRST
DAREDEVIL SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 REACTION
OMG!!! Seriously, I screamed OMG about 20 times watching “BANG”.
I think they may have crammed all of the season 1 action factor into one hour. There is no build up to reveal a villain in 4 episodes this time. We know many of the players right from the get go.
Started watching DAREDEVIL SEASON 2 this morning. Cleared my day to watch so I can record a PODCAST Monday Morning. Already overly pumped to watch but had to stop and share while my reactions are fresh.
SPOILER ALERT – WATCH EPISODE FIRST – YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!!
Now that we are WAY past origin stories, we jump into see Daredevil (Charlie Cox) in pursuit of some bad guys. And the community seems to support his actions. Some cooks even help keep one of the baddies down. And resting up on the roof tops to survey the scene.
All of the big elements are there. Matt, Foggy (Elden Henson) and Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) are struggling to keep the lights on at Nelson and Murdock.
With the fall of Wilson Fisk (AKA The Kingpin) gangs are all over Hell’s Kitchen are fighting to take their piece of the pie. (Not to worry in 2016, Hell’s Kitchen is home to some great food, bars and comedy) A Henry V – esque speech by Irish mob boss, Mr. Nesbit, ends in a blood bath.
Matt, Foggy and Karen let go having a beer – NOT THE WATER – at Josie’s (Susan Varon). Lone survivor, Grotto (McCaleb Burnett, Mob Grunt associated with Turk in the comics) seeks the representation of Nelson and Murdock before seeking help from Witness Protection or District Attorney.
Foggy Nelson gets some great comedy lines in this episode. It is weird live tweeting a binge watch as no one else is on same page but could not help sharing these lines…
Matt Murdock to Sgt. Brett Mahoney (Royce Johnson) “You can trust us”
Foggy “We’re Lawyers” – (Comic timing is perfect!!!)
Foggy tells Matt before splitting up to fight new wars on two fronts.
“…not the kind of guys you challenge to a fist fight wearing your underwear”
Daredevil visits his favorite punching bag, Turk, for some answers on para-military weapon sales.
Foggy continues his comic defense mode when faced with death by Dogs of Hell as he learns his 3rd grade buddy-turned-biker is dead at the hands of the same new player in town. Perhaps Foggy should have never said he was a lawyer.

DAREDEVIL SEASON 2 Dogs of Help shoot pool with Foggy’s head. Jimmy ‘The Bear’ of course named for the famous Winter Hill Gang mobster (Whitey Bulger)
Meanwhile Matt follows up on Turk’s intel only to find a new meaning to the Hurt Locker.
Everything comes to light when the one survivor says ” No they… HIM!”
Jon Bernthal was the perfect choice to play the vigilante, Punisher. Can anyone watch these sequences and not think of all the times Shane justified sliding to the dark side in order to survive The Walking Dead.
From the moment we see the back of Frank Castles head he is a marching death machine, who seems to keep missing his mark when it is a main character – so cinematic, right, the perfect shot always misses when the character has to survive for story telling purposes. Don’t get me started on vampire tongues that go limp dick on The Strain when faced by a star.
Karen saves Grotto from the hospital assault. Daredevil jumps in just in time to finish the save. The epic battle of good v evil vigilantes upon the roof tops of Hell’s Kitchen is amazing.

DAREDEVIL SEASON 2 Frank Castle loses to Matt on equal footing. But Frank does not play fairly. “BANG!”
Fairly evenly matched, Daredevil barely wins against Punisher, until Frank gets the drop and shoots… “BANG!”, Matt falls off roof, cut to credits, and now cut to me watching Episode Two… “Dogs to a Gunfight”.
HOLD ALL MY CALLS – I’M BUSY TODAY!!!

The second season of the American web television series Daredevil follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights crime by night, as he crosses paths with the deadly Frank Castle and his old girlfriend Elektra Natchios. The series is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, and is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing continuity with the films and other television series of the franchise. The season is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios and Goddard Textiles, with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez serving as showrunners, and series creator Drew Goddard acting as consultant.
Charlie Cox stars as Murdock, while Jon Bernthal and Élodie Yung are introduced as Castle and Natchios. Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Rosario Dawson also return from the first season, with Stephen Rider also joining them. The season was ordered in April 2015 after the successful release of the first, with Petrie and Ramirez replacing the season one showrunner Steven S. DeKnight. Production on the season began in July 2015 and continued through December, with the season focusing on ‘what makes a hero’ by comparing Murdock to Castle and Natchios, and showing how they affect his life.
The first two episodes of the season premiered in Paris on March 7, 2016, with the full season of 13 episodes released on Netflix on March 18. Critics praised the action of the season and the performances, particularly Bernthal’s. However, some of the storyline elements and execution received criticism as well as no character having the same presence that Vondie Curtis-Hall’s Ben Urich or Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk did in the first season.
Hell’s Kitchen has calmed, but it’s not out of the fire yet. When an unknown vigilante begins to take the fight to the streets in a big and bloody way, Matt Murdock must don the mask of Daredevil to stop him before innocent people end up in the crossfire. A battle of full measure versus half, a conflict of morality and justice, Daredevil vs The Punisher.
